B-Band A2.2 Installation

Taking the UST and AST sources and applying XOM technology, B-Band engineers discovered the ideal sound for authentic acoustic reproduction comes from combining the high frequencies of the AST and broad low frequencies of the UST. Because XOM uses two transducers to sense the sound of the guitar from two different locations the sound is much more complex than a one pickup system and is more sonically accurate to the actual acoustic tone of the guitar.

Like all B-Band pickup systems the heart of the sound comes from our patented Electret Film Technology. Electret film does not use Piezo crystals like other common pickups and you will hear the difference in the first time you strum the guitar. Electret Film reproduces the true unique voice of each instrument and does not color the sound or cause the wretched "piezo quack". Because the A2.2 only requires two holes to be drilled in the instrument, needs no special jigs to install the pickups and uses quick connectors, the system can be installed in 30 minutes or less.

In this series of photo's we are installing a B-Band A2.2 XOM system with the UST and the AST on a Guild F50R.

23. Fine tuning the UST and AST gain trim pots: When you turn the mix control to the AST side the tone should become brighter and taping on the top should be audible, if this is the case the gain trims are in proper adjustment. If the tone of the instrument does not become brighter when turning the mix control to the AST side, turn the UST gain trim pot down in 10 percent increments until the tone becomes brighter. If the tone of the instrument is too bright turn the AST trim pot down in 10 percent increments until a pleasing tone is achieved.
